teaching & learning

At Sacred Heart RC Primary School our vision is to create a primary school that encourages it’s children to achieve their full potential as well rounded individuals; academically, personally and socially. We want to help each child become a caring, confident and curious young person who has an enthusiasm for learning and achieving.

Our aim is to provide our children with a knowledge rich curriculum that is engaging, exciting, empowering and equips them for today and tomorrow.
At Sacred Heart the curriculum is designed to: recognise children’s prior learning, build on knowledge and key skills, provide first hand learning experiences, allow the children to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers.

Every child is recognised as a unique individual. We celebrate and welcome differences within our diverse school community. The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts
and values with a vision to prepare them for life beyond primary school.

We  provide many enrichment opportunities to engage learning. We believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in our lives, where there are no limits to curiosity and strive for new experiences and knowledge. We incorporate our Christian values of honesty, respect, trust , courage and forgiveness to promote positive attitudes to learning, which reflect the values and skills needed to promote responsibility for learning and future success.
